DIY skirt

This morning I felt like being creative or productive and as I have a pile of clothes waiting to be altered or customized, I decided to take up this black high waisted skirt. It was originally shin length - I bought it because it was only £1 and I've taken it up to thigh length - I've been in need of a simple black shirt to wear out with blouses for ages!

First I measured the length I wanted my skirt, using a measuring tape and tailors chalk. I then zigzag stitched along the raw edge where I'd cut the material to stop it from fraying. I'm no seamstress, I'm pretty impatient and so find following instructions or learning sewing skills properly really difficult...I therefore tend to make it up as I go along and hope for the best! Considering my poor skills, I managed to hem the bottom pretty neatly!

As the skirt is a circle design it falls nicely and I love how it sits high up on my waist!

Before my boyfriend and I popped into the back garden to get these photographs, we took a few snaps of Elfin when she was snuggling in my coat. She almost blends in with the faux fur!

I'm going back to Devon tomorrow to spend Christmas with my family! I'm bringing Elfin so she'll be staying with my Mum's two pet rats, Scribbles and Luna, I hope they all get along! I have to pack tonight and am having to pack light so that I can carry all of my Christmas presents home....I have no idea what to take with me!
