The Cottingley Fairies

Today I've been doing research for my final major project. I watched two films this morning: Photographing fairies, and also Fairy Tale: A true story. Both were rather enjoyable and lead me to look further into the story of the Cottingley Fairies, (1917) in which two children claimed to have photographed real fairies...later in life they admitted that the images weren't real however and that they'd used cardboard cutouts and fastened them into the ground with hair pins. The youngest of the two girls always insisted that the fifth and final image was real.





      Images were taken from Wikipedia and adjusted

Sorry if you have no interest in fairies but I've been fascinated from about the age of twelve, shortly after I moved to the countryside, and I just wanted to share this story and these images with you if you haven't heard of them before! Wouldn't it be wonderful if fairies really did exist!?  Have a great day!

    i used to love the film fairy tale! i swear i watched it on repeat haha. these photos are gorgeous- i'd love to believe that fairies could exist, it would be awesome :) sounds like good research for your fmp, hope you're enjoying it xx

    fairy tale a true story used to be one of my favourite films when i was younger! i totally believed i had fairies living at the bottom of my garden
