My second attempt at making a 'two-tone' shirt was more successful! I started with this vintage sleeveless blouse which I got from Glastonbury festival over summer. I cut out the front right panel of the blouse which at first looks a bit scary, "I've ruined a perfectly good blouse!!!" 

I then got the green panel which was cut off of the blouse I 'destroyed' the other day and used a zig zag stitch to neaten the arm edge as the fabric was fraying. I sewed together the shoulder and collar edges first...

So far so good...but then my needle snapped! Typical, I'd never changed a needle on a sewing machine before so out came the instructions. Luckily it was easier than I'd assumed and I was soon sewing away again! I zig zag stitched and then neatly stitched the two side panels together, thus completing my creation. 

I wore it with an attachable bow tie and a bright green cardigan! (My two favourite colours, blue and green) What I really love about this customizing technique is that not only does it produce interesting, unique pieces but it really doesn't take long at all. It took me about an hour tops and that was WITH the needle snapping scenario to! ;) 

Hope you like my new blouse, it's not perfect but I'll get there in time! Next, I would like to add a second collar to a shirt, something my friend and I have been talking about doing for a while since seeing a gorgeous denim shirt with an added leopard print collar in UO...I also have a bag of feathers which I'd really like to sew onto a skirt, so make sure you keep checking back to see if I manage it!
